Context

 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 	  To be . . . . To do
 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 	  Mary  . . . . Martha

 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 If everyone were Martha, 
 	 	 	 	 	 	 	     nothing done would have meaning 
 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 	     beyond the immediate
 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 If everyone were Mary,
	 	 	 	 	 	 	     nothing would get done

 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 Mary sat at His feet.
 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 content to be
 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 	     to listen
 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 	     to contemplate Jesus
 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 Martha welcomed the guests
 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 	       anxious to do
 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 	   to act
 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 	     to care for

 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 Poor Martha.
 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 Rebuked for hospitality
	 	 	 	 	 	 	 	   for doing instead of being
 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 Or was it for doing without being?

 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 Mary chose the better part
 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 Released from the anxiety of doing
 	 	 	 	 	 	 	 Free to love
	 	 	 	 	 	 	         to trust
	 	 	 	 	 	 	         to do the Father's will.
